Why Do We Celebrate Independence Day ?? !!

• Today is a day to express our joy on the occasion of the Eritrean Independence Day and the day of expulsion of the Ethiopian occupation army from the Eritrean soil, thus ending the sufferings of our people, which lasted for centuries of successive occupations.

• The achievement of independence meant for the Eritrean people a new era, and Eritreans hoped that achieving their independence will enable them to build a modern democratic state in which our people will enjoy justice, freedom and stability, and citizenship being the basis for dealing with individuals regardless of their other affiliations within the country.

• 27 years have passed since the evacuation of the last Ethiopian soldier from our country. These years have been the years in which our people have tasted all kinds of humiliation and assault, and young Eritreans have left their country, which is in a dire need of their energies. The country has been involved in a number of wars, in which tens of thousands of people have been killed or wounded; Eritrea has become a big prison for its own people. Arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial killings, imprisonment, torture and other bestial practices have been part of the life of the Eritrean citizens.

• Today, when we celebrate the occasion of Independence Day, which was the result of great sacrifices made by the Eritrean people in their long and arduous struggle, we confirm as well our solidarity with our people against all forms of injustice, oppression and abuse, as well as emphasizing the unity of the Eritrean people and its political forces against the tyrant Issaias Afwerki and his party, until the demise of this brutal regime, so that justice, freedom, democracy, peace and stability for our people and its neighbours are achieved.

Long live the Eritrean people,

Shame for dictators everywhere.

Varför firar vi Eritreas självständighetsdag ?? !!!!

• Idag är en dag för att uttrycka vår glädje i samband med den eritreanska självständighetsdagen och dagen för utkastning av de etiopiska ockupationstrupperna från Eritreas territorium, vilket avslutade vårt folks lidande, som varade i århundraden av de successiva colonialmakterna.

• Självständigheten har inneburit en ny gryning för det eritreanska folket och eritreaner hoppades på att självständigheten skulle göra det möjligt för dem att bygga en modern och demokratisk stat där vårt folk kommer att njuta av rättvisa, frihet och stabilitet, och medborgarskapet utgör grunden för att hantera individer oavsett deras andra tillhörigheter inom landet.

• 27 år har gått sedan evakueringen av de sista etiopiska soldaterna från vårt land. Dessa år har varit åren där människor i Eritrea har smakat alla slags förnedring och nedbrytning, och unga eritreaner har lämnat sitt land, fast landet har ett brådskande behov av deras energier. Landet har varit inblandat i ett antal krig, där tiotusentals människor har blivit dödade eller sårade. Eritrea har blivit ett stort fängelse för sitt eget folk. • Idag, när vi firar självständighetsdagen, som var ett resultat av stora offringar som gjorts av det eritreanska folket i deras långa och hårda kamp, ​​bekräftar vi samtidigt vår solidaritet med vårt folk mot alla former av orättvisa, förtryck, och förödmjukelse, såväl som att understryka det eritreanska folkets och deras politiska styrkors enhet mot tyrannen Issaias Afwerki och hans parti, fram tills denna brutala regim tas bort och rättvisa, frihet, demokrati, fred och stabilitet för vårt folk och dess grannar råder.
