In Memory of a True Justice-Seeker Memher Ibrahim Mohamed
It is with profound sadness, members of Global Initiative to Empower Eritrean Grassroots Movement (GI) learned about the untimely passing of Memher Ibrahim Mohamed, who was one of the founders of GI.
Memher Ibrahim Mohamed was born on September 28, 1947, in Asmara, Eritrea. After attending his elementary education in Eritrea, he pursued his middle school, secondary school and college education in Ethiopia. He earned a B.A degree in Geography, from Haile Selassie I University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and M.A in Library and Information Science, from Loughborough University of Technology, UK.
Memher Ibrahim had worked at Kotebe Teachers’ Training College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and also at Asmara University as Head of Library as well as Geography and Library Science lecturer. During his tenure at these institutions, Memher Ibrahim is fondly remembered as a dedicated and exemplary educator and as a high impact librarian.
Memher Ibrahim was an enthusiastic person with strong will to overcome challenging situations. He was gifted with excellent interpersonal skills, listening and writing ability.
More importantly, he was someone who dedicated himself to make a contribution to improve the situation in his native land, Eritrea. He was dearly loved and admired by everyone who had the good fortune to know him. His infectious smile and soft-spoken manners, will forever be remembered by all those who knew him, and particularly by all GI members.
His loss is a serious blow to all justice-seeking Eritreans and more so to the members of the Global Initiative to Empower Eritrean Grassroots Movement.
Memher Ibrahim, passed away on March 26, 2018 at a hospital in Holland after battling with a serious illness for over a year.
Members of GI would like to express our sincere condolence to all his family members and his friends.
