Seven Opposition Organizations Declare an Integrative Unity in the Presence of the leaders of the Eritrean Democratic Alliance

Seven Eritrean opposition organizations have signed, today, on the fundamental principles for an” integrative unity” in the presence of the leaders of the Eritrean Democratic Alliance ,the Eritrean Media Center and Gulf Information Center. Osman Abubkr, who has opened the session of the principles’ declaration, asserted that the seven organizations have agreed on establishing a united organization which calls for coexistence between Islam and Christianity by the name “the Eritrean Democratic Assembly.” Mr. Abubkr made clear that four of the signatory organizations are members of the Eritrean Democratic Alliance while the other three are not. “We will integrate our programes and form one leadership,” he added.

A high level Sudanese official has delivered speech on the declaration occasion in which he assured his country’s support for the initiative. “It is a step in the right course,” he added. The Sudanese official has promised that his country will strongly back for the assembly up to realize its goals for the Eritrean people. The Sudanese official has called the other organization to follow similar course to enhance the Eritrean Democratic Alliance. Mr.Hussain Khalifa, who is chairing the ongoing sessions of the EDA, underscored that the “assembly” will narrow the differences in the Eritrean arena. He emphasized that the taken step is responsible, courageous and called upon the other organizations which have similar programes to follow similar track. The seven signatories on the agreement of “integration” are the Eritrean Cooperative Party, the Reconcilation Party, the Eritrean Democratic Resistance, the Islamic Front, the National Front, the United Organization and the Initiative Movement.
