April 4, 2006(KHARTOUM) – Commissioner of refugees Mohamed Ahmed al-agbash has appealed to the international community to help the Sudan in providing help to the increased influx of the Eritrean refugees through the Eastern border of the Sudan..
al-agbash has expressed his deep concern about the daily increasing influx of the Eritrean refugees warning that it would cause a pressure on the Sudanese authorities in light of the official suspension of help from donors due to the closure of the Eritrean refugees record in the United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees.
Al-agbash said that the daily average influx of the Eritrean refugees ranges from 15 -to- 35 individuals. “Deficiency in the budget would negatively affect the provided service to the refugees,” warns al-agbash. “Most of the refugees have left the camps in search of jobs; a matter which has increased the presence of refugees in towns more than the number of the already existing refugees,” stressed al-agbash. “Our administration would follow strict measures in the coming period while dealing with the refugees.”
