Eritrean Commissioners’ meet with the UK foreign and commonwealth office
On 14th April 2011 members of the Eritrean National Commission for Democratic Change in the UK had a meeting with the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London. They were accompanied by a number of London Support Committee members,
The UK side was represented by 3 officials and the meeting continued for 1 hr 45 min. There were frank discussions that followed after Daniel gave a detailed explanation of the National Commission mission. The Eritrean side appealed for all round support in tackling the grave human right situation in Eritrea. The Eritrean delegates also expressed their disappointment for the disregard of the international community of the recent Eritrean tragedy in the Mediterranean Sea and asked the UK authorities help in chasing and following up the investigations carried into the causes of the disaster. We also expressed our solidarity and concern for the British hostages hold in Eritrea and our condemnation of the unlawful act.
Many questions were asked by the British team and the Eritrean side responded to the best of their knowledge.
It was agreed to keep the channel here after open and contacts to continue in future.
The meeting concluded after exchanging thanks for the fruitful discussions held.
