A daring scape from Asmara Airport

TWO STOWAWAYS were yesterday arrested at Larnaca airport, where they promptly filed for political asylum, police said.
The two men, aged in their early 30s, from Eritrea had been employed at their local airport when they decided to sneak aboard one of their national carriers flying to Cyprus.
Reports said the pair found a spot on the aircraft that was both heated and pressurised and hid there until the plane took off.
Once the plane landed at Larnaca airport and was prepared for refuelling, the duo attempted to disembark from their hiding spot but were located by the airport’s monitoring system, arrested and handed over to the Cypriot authorities.
