The Swedish – Eritrean Youth Association for Democracy and Social Justice is mobilising and campaigning for the coming conference to be held in Sweden from 24th to 26th August 2012. Under the theme, “ Together” we need to renew and revitalise our democratic solidarity. We need to strengthen our unity as the core global compact and league of democracy that can harness the great power of Eritrean people around the world to advance our people’s values and freedom.
At the heart of this new compact, the youth are calling to renew mutual respect and trust with the traditional political and civil society organizations.
They are reminding us recall the word of our forefathers sitting under the trees and solving their daily problems peacefully.
In their meetings they reminded the audience that the youth power does not mean we can do whatever we want whenever we want, nor should we assume we have all the wisdom and knowledge necessary to succeed without the elders.
We need to listen to the views and respect the collective will of our people when we believe that youth action is necessary, told the youth leaders.
The alliance of Eritrean youth meanwhile must have the ability and the will to act in defence of freedom and justice in Eritrea. In their consecutive meetings with the political and civic organizations, women and general public they strongly emphasized the building a strong and united Eritrean youth with a true and strategic partnership between the youth and traditional opposition is profoundly in the interest of the Eritrean people.
The youth in Sweden called in their meetings that we all have to live up to our own high standards
of morality and national responsibility. They told in their meetings that they will fight the dictatorship in Eritrea and at the same time defend the rights of the Eritrean diversity that are the
foundations of our societies.
The Eritrean – Swedish Communities are preparing the conference economically, socially and culturally so that it must be transparent and all inclusive conference invigorating the struggle from dictatorship to democracy inEritrea.
