Activities of the Melbourne sub-committee of NCDC
With just less than ten weeks left before the much anticipated National Conference for Democratic Change (NCDC) to be held in Addis Ababa, at the end of the month of July, the conference’s promotional campaign is in its full gear.
Mr A. Kerr (preparatory committee member), together with the newly formed sub-committee members in Melbourne, begun the campaign by producing a T-shirt featuring the: YES… for the conference logo, followed by a flyer distribution effort in order to raise awareness among the Eritrean community in Melbourne.
Posters appeared in some of the local Eritrean owned shops and restaurants, and some good hearted and nationalistic Eritreans have been approached for financial support. Meeting all civic groups in Melbourne is also underway to explore more ways for additional support and participation of its members in the NCDC.
Initial responses indicate that there is an unequivocal support and strong desire to make the upcoming conference a turning point in the history of the Eritrean opposition. A positive atmosphere is in the making for better cooperation, planning and action by all forces struggling for an all inclusive democratic change in Eritrea after the departure of the tyrant.
Eritrean women in Melbourne are also ready to join hand on the drive for the success efforts of the NCDC. A lunch is to be organized by the women’s group and all its proceedings will be donated to the NCDC. Also women from Melbourne (Australia) are expected to participate in the upcoming NCDC after electing their representatives.
Next there is a grand plan of fund raising event(s) full with attractive programs, accompanied by efforts of soliciting support from friends of Eritreans for democratic change.
The Melbourne NCDN sub-committee appeals to all concerned Eritreans who seek and believe in genuine and democratic change in Eritrea, to be part of this historical moment and participate in any possible ways. The sub-committee has also assured that no stone is left unturned in order to rally support for the NCDC with the support and cooperation of all concerned Eritreans in Melbourne.
