The Eritrean Community dismisses the auditors’ findings as flawed and threatens legal action
Farajat: Melbourne –Australia
In an extraordinary meeting held on November 1st, 2014, to listen to the findings of the investigation committee formed at the Annual General Meeting held earlier this year to look into the financial activities of the previous Committee of management, members at the meetings have overwhelmingly rejected the report as flawed and inconclusive.
The report was found to be lopsided and critically deficient on the core areas of monetary scrutiny as it failed to get to the bottom of the areas of income and expenses, instead the report was marred by generalisation, vagueness, inconsistency and lacked integrity.
The reporting team has blamed their inability to reconcile the income and expenses to the fact that the previous committee had failed to provide them with the necessary financial documents as well as the entanglement of activities between those of the Eritrean community and those of the so called African Think Tank, which was also headed by a member of the same previous committee of management.
The areas of investigation were to include:
• Why did the previous committee of management close the bank account and opened a new one before the handed over to the new committee of management.
• Why did they delete all data from the computers before the handover.
The job of investigating the previous management’s financial report has now been given to a consultancy committee which has been empowered with all options including legal option .
