Many Sudanese in Eritrea’s Prisons

Feb 11,2006(KHARTOUM)-Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) member Dr. Silaman Jero told (smc) that there are tenth of Sudanese nationals under custody for years in Eritrean prisons.

He said most of the respective prisoners belong to SLM group led by Abdel Wahid Mohammed Nur, and element loyal to Al Fath forces. He said Eritrea is involved in Darfur struggle.

He cited that Eritrean Gen. Takhali Manjos has been assigned by the government in Asmara to supervise military and logistical supports to Darfur rebel’s movement. Dr. Jero said Gen. Manjos has coordinated delivering of eight consignments of military equipment to relocate into Darfur “Gen Manjos has also coordinated many plans of hostilities on eastern borders against Sudan,” said Dr. Jero.

It was noted that Dr. Jero had worked for JEM’s office in Eritrea for two years.
Dr.Jero however urges government, other political forces and international community to press Eritrean regime to release the respective Sudanese prisoners unconditionally.
