The Revolutionary Council of the ELF-RC held an emergency meeting between  29-31 December 2005 and called for redoubling of efforts with resolute dedication to ensure the victory of our people’s struggle for peace, justice and democracy for which the ELF-RC Chairman Seyoum Ogbamichael and other martyrs fought with historic steadfastness.

Convened by Mr. Tekle Melekin, the Acting Chairman, in agreement with the RC Speaker, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Ali, the extraordinary meeting decided to increase substantially the number of full time dedicated senior cadres filling high leadership offices located in the region surrounding Eritrea. Accordingly, the emergency meeting elected Mr. Woldeyesus Ammar as the new Chairman, and mr. Tesfai Woldemichael (Degiga) as the new head for the Office of the Chairman. Mr. Tekle Melekin retained the post of ELF-RC Vice-Chairman in charge of International Relations.

The RC meeting called on all members, supporters and sympathizers of the ELF-RC to tighten their belts for more sacrifices of their time, resources and services in order to help enhance the struggle for change and democratization to achieve its planned goals without loss of much time.

The Revolutionary Council expressed deep appreciation to all Eritreans who gave material and moral support and sympathy to the bereaved family of Patriot-Martyr Seyoum and his comrades-in-struggle. The extraordinary meeting also paid deep gratitude to the governments of Ethiopia and the Netherlands for their unreserved cooperation and support in the entire arrangements to carry the remains of the late ELF-RC Chairman to Holland and the burial ceremony that took place near Rotterdam where his legal residence was retained.
