EAJP, Melbourne, 22/22/2012

With Deep concern, The Eritrean Australians for Justice and Peace (EAJP)

has received the news of kidnapping veteran Mohamed Ali Ibrahim (Central council member of the Eritrean People’s Democratic party) who was taken away to an undisclosed location soon after he left his home on Tuesday 14/2/ 2012 in Kassala town in Eastern Sudan.

The Organization condemns this evil and terrorist action, and expresses its serious concerns on such kidnapping practice, which puts back our minds to recall past similar incidents experienced by many Eritrean veterans in the Sudanese cities whom most of them were liquidated. Hence, this coward action might be the start of another new notorious era of crimes of terror, which we should combat vigorously rather than being irresponsive which encourages the regime to continue its brutality.

This brutal kidnapping incident which is likely plotted and implemented inside the Sudanese territory by the Eritrean dictator regime’s security apparatus is considered as a clear violation of the Sudanese sovereignty and creates a large crackdown of its security and communal peace. Therefore, it should be condemned and challenge those who are involved, so that to preserve the brotherly relationship of the two countries.

The Eritrean Australians for Justice and Peace calls for a quick move to find out the whereabouts of veteran Mohamed Ali Ibrahim and the circumstance behind his kidnapping and to exert efforts for his release, if he is still within the Sudanese territories, and to chasing up those who are involved in this brutal crime and introduce them to court. EAJP appeals to all descent Eritreans to unite in condemning and establishing a strong stand to deter such cowards. Every one of us should know that the incident shouldn’t be passed on simply as a mere incident; rather, we should seriously acknowledge that we are within the circle of danger too.
