ENDF condolences to the people of Ethiopia and the EPRDF On the passing away of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi

We have learned with shock and deep sadness the news
of the untimely passing away of His Excellency Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.

Regardless of our differences with his government’s
policies concerning the Ethio-Eritrean border demarcation issue and their
approach to Eritrean opposition politics, we acknowledge that Mr. Zenawi was a
great statesman and prominent African leader who played a monumental role in
recognising and supporting the Eritrean people’s legitimate right to
self-determination and independence.

On behalf of the Eritrean National Democratic Forces
(ENDF) and the genuine pro-Democracy Eritreans, we convey to the people of Ethiopia and
the EPRDF party our condolences and sympathies at this sad and critical times,
wishing them stability and smooth transition of power.
