Eritrea Continues to Seize Yemeni Boats

The Eritrean navy continues to harass Yemeni boats and arrests their crews; this time 98 Yemeni fishermen are released after their boats, about ten, were seized while hunting in international waters in the Red Sea, almotamar.net reported on Friday.

The fishermen arrived at Hodeida port two days ago and told the Coastguard of their story. We were intercepted by Eritrean forces and taken to Musawa’a area, they said.

They deported us one of our boats while other boats were confiscated with all properties aboard them, they added. An investigation into the claims was launched.

In recent years, Eritrean forces seized dozens of Yemeni boats and hundreds of Yemeni fishermen onboard but until now the fishermen have seen on action by the government.

In every time, the forces confiscated the Yemeni boats and fishermen properties onboard and then deported the crews empty handed.
